Sony Ericsson has brought its smallest Android smartphone, the Xperia mini, to Japan as part of a partnership with Japanese mobile broadband service, EMOBILE, which is operated by eAccess. In Japan, the phone is known as the Sony Ericsson mini.

Sony Ericsson says the partnership will drive further growth and expand its market share in Japan by providing a high-specification product well suited to the country’s highly mobile, data-hungry customers. Since its launch in 2007, EMOBILE, which provide high-speed, flat-rate mobile data services, has picked up more than 3.5m mobile subscribers. 

The Xperia mini comes in a compact form factor, the size of a business card, and weighing just 99g. In a country where Facebook usage has doubled in the last six months, it also offers Facebook inside Xperia, which makes Facebook immediately accessible from the most-used areas of the phone such as the picture gallery, music player, phonebook and calendar. The handset also offers high-definition video recording, coupled with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine display technology.
