iPhone 4S Pre-orders Top a Million

David Murphy

Pre-orders of Apple’s iPhone 4S have topped a million in a single day, surpassing the previous single day pre-order record of 600,000 held by iPhone 4.

The handset will be available at Apple’s 33 UK retail stores from 8 a.m. on Friday, 14 October. Every customer who buys an iPhone 4S at an Apple retail store will be offered free Personal Setup service, helping them customise their iPhone 4S by setting up email, and showing them new apps from the App Store.

iPhone 4S will roll out worldwide to 22 more countries by the end of October. These include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

The handset includes iOS 5 and iCloud. It comes in black or white and will be available in 16GB, 32GB and a new 64GB version. There’s more information on pricing here.
